Remote Physiotherapy

Implementing Tech in the IDF Medical Corps

Background

The success of physiotherapy heavily relies on self-exercise. There is a direct correlation between exercise performance and clinical improvement. The IDF is looking for an objective tool that examines the success of physiotherapy (whether by natural improvement or improvement due to exercise) and/or measures the usability and adherence to physiotherapy treatment. We aim to find a tool that provides a variety of structured physiotherapy exercises, allows for the creation of tailored treatment plans, enables patient management by therapists, and objectively assesses treatment adherence.

Solution Principles

  • Remote exercise: Use of an exercise library or structured exercise set to create a treatment plan for a medical problem for physiotherapist use or generic treatment plans (e.g., back pain, sprain) for primary care physician use.

  • Remote assessment by physiotherapist (advantage): A tool that allows remote assessment for new patients.

  • Movement identification and diagnosis: This allows for monitoring and measurement of exercise and provides real-time feedback on exercise quality and exercise correction.

  • Ease of use: User-friendly interface and availability of the application on any mobile device to ensure full accessibility anytime, anywhere (Android and Apple or WEB-based).

Emphases

  • Physiotherapy areas: Diagnosis and/or exercise

  • Software development: Software development without the need for additional hardware components, with the option for independent STAND ALONE operation or with cloud-based improvements.

  • Analysis and metrics: Usability, exercise duration, exercise quality, adherence to treatment plan, and more

  • Remote communication with the therapist: For feedback, questionnaires, instructions, and more

  • Dashboard for the therapist: Aggregative information and various reports. For example, exercise scope, treatment adherence, improvement trends, ENGAGEMENT level, emphases, and alerts

  • Data security: Maximum protection of patient privacy and compliance with regulatory requirements (HIPAA, GDPR)

  • Development horizon: Ability to expand and adapt content and treatment plans to changing needs
